Awards

November 5-11, 2007 - Player of the week

Congratulations to the PeeWee B team! Although this is an individual award, there are rare times when a team comes together and plays as one. The Stars PeeWee B team put forth a fantastic effort on Sunday to record their first league win. Every player contributed to the victory, with the following individuals earning extra recognition:

Coleman Anker – for a non-stop work ethic and multiple goal-saving backchecks.

Kellen Anker – for posting his first ever shut-out in often sensational style.

Nick Freitas – for playing solid, 2-way hockey and passing the puck often to get his teammates involved.

Erica Hrudowsky – for taking charge in her own zone and establishing herself as a dominant physical presence.

Grayson Petti – for great all-around play and effective penalty killing.

Richie Sladek – for some big hits, continuous hustle and non-stop energy.

October 2007 - Player of the month

Congratulations Connor Walker of the PeeWee A team! Connor has played goal for a full 24 of the 25 Stars Peewee A games this year. He has several shutouts and once the puck is dropped, no one on the team is more in focus than Connor. He has led the Stars Peewee A team to a 19-5-3 record so far this year. Additionally, Connor plays at a high level in a local travel soccer program and does extremely well in school, excelling in mathematics and several other courses. Even in his spare time, he can frequently be found at PSC, volunteering his time in the "Intro to Hockey" program, working with the next generation of hockey players

October 29-November 4, 2007 - Player of the week

Congratulations Vincent Demilio of the Bantam B team! Despite getting little rest as part of a depleted defensive unit, Vincent’s effort was second to none – hustling to every loose puck, pinching in when needed, holding the blue line, taking the body, and inspiring his teammates throughout the weekend. Not typically a man of many words, Vincent
let his “tradesman-like” work ethic speak for him and helped lead his team through the weekend. Great job Vinnie!

October 8-14, 2007 - Player of the week

Congratulations Remy Gallo of the Bantam B team! Remy started the week off with good old fashioned hard work at practice all week. When it came to game time, Remy hard work jump-started several line combinations and helped the Bantam team come out with a 1-1 record. Remy brought an energetic work ethic with him to the rink all week, tallying 2 goals and 2 assists in Sunday’s victory against the American Eagles. His effort was contagious and helped the Stars outshoot their opponents 62-36 on the weekend.

September 2007 - Player of the month

Congratulations Katie Leiningerof the Squirt B Green team! Katie is the personification of a well rounded athlete. A very strong and skilled defensive player on the Squirt team, she is a true team player and is known to consistently make unselfish decisions that always put her team first. Katie continues to develop in both physical and mental aspects of the game.

Katie also plays on a premier soccer team and is currently in her 5th year of dance lessons. Katie plays the trombone in her school band and serves as a student council representative. Katie attends CCD classes every week and is a consistent A student, including advance placement classes. Katie was asked by her teacher and students aids to serve as a "buddy" for a child with Asperger Syndrome in her school. Katie was glad to accept this assignment, sitting with her new friend in class and making sure that she always has someone to sit with at lunch and someone to play with at recess. For her tenth birthday, instead of gifts for herself Katie asked her guests to bring donations to Habitat For Humanity.

Katie wants to be a writer when she grows up and is always writing stories. Her goal is to have a story published this year.

Katie has a delightfully upbeat personality and is a truly stellar member of our Stars Family.

September 17-23, 2007 - Player of the week

Congratulations Justin Grossman of the Squirt B Black team! Justin showed great energy in both practices during the week and put forth a very strong effort in both of his team’s games over the weekend. He played both forward and defense when called on to do so by his coaches, and demonstrated good leadership skills both on and off the ice.

Congratulations Robert Musante of the PeeWee A team! Robert worked hard in practice all week and contributed to his team going 1-0-1 during the past weekend, while seeing time as a winger, centerman and defenseman. Robert also scorded 4 goals in two games.
